This is THE festival not to be missed in Lisbon. Saint Anthony is celebrated all month long to the sound of POPULAR music.
In June, we celebrate Saint Anthony of Padua (Santo António), Lisbon's patron saint. On the evening of the 12th, the city is abuzz with activity, the streets are packed, people dance to the sound of the "pimba" (Portuguese folk music), devour a few sardines and stroll the old quarters all night long. If you arrive early, you can watch a big parade on the Avenida da Liberdade. For the rest of the month, barbecues are set up and the atmosphere is friendly.
