One of the biggest music festivals with a program that attracts thousands of people.
The festival originated in Rio in 1985, thanks to Brazilian entrepreneur Roberta Medina. At the Parque Bela Vista (near the airport), the world's leading artists perform on three stages in the service of world peace. Since 2004 (every other year, alternating with Rio de Janeiro), this festival has welcomed most of the world's top names to Lisbon. In 2024, a special 50th anniversary edition will take place at the Parque Tejo, newly laid out for the WYD in 2023.
