Discover the largest aquarium in Europe with a huge central pool and all the ecosystems recreated in several spaces.

This place is a must if you like to observe underwater life. It is currently the second largest oceanorium in the world! The largest is the one in Osaka, designed by the same architect, the American Peter Chermayeff. This is not an aquarium, but an attempt to recreate four ecosystems. Around an enormous central basin of 6,000 m3, four smaller spaces invite visitors to visit the coasts of the Antarctic, the Indian Ocean, the North Pacific and the Atlantic (Ah, the Azores!). Everything is there, flora, temperature, fish and birds or animals. The penguins snub us and the otters make their circus! The tour route winds around the central basin (completely glazed) which serves as a guiding thread as it gradually descends. Inside this one, you will be able to observe sharks, rays (some are really impressive), schools of sea bream, tropical fishes, giant octopus (big success) and many others. All this little world cohabits together and comes to taunt us close to the window. It's magical, especially when you make the visit on a reasonably busy day. As we walk around this giant aquarium, we are told all about the seabed and its inhabitants. Some interactive games are offered to children. There is a great deal of work being done to raise awareness for the protection of the oceans. Weekends are to be avoided if you want to enjoy the new sensations, especially the temporary exhibitions.
