TORRE DA IGREJA DO CASTELO
Recently renovated tower attached to a church with beautiful bells presenting temporary exhibitions.
A small alleyway leads from the entrance to Castelo São Jorge to a square where the highest tower on the Castelo hill stands before us. Recently renovated with its church, the tower dates back to the 18th century. Now finally open to the public to enjoy the unrivalled view of the Tagus River, you can admire the beautiful bells. Temporary exhibitions bring the church to life. The church is said to have been built on the site of a mosque during Moorish rule.
