NÚCLEO ARQUEOLÓGICO BANCO COMERCIAL PORTUGUES
Archaeological site in Lisbon offering an opportunity to discover the different phases of occupation of the Baixa area.
These ancient remains of Lisbon, more than 2,500 years old, were unearthed during construction work. Cleverly laid out, the site reveals an ancient Roman road with wheel tracks, remains of dwellings, wells and basins where fish were salted. More accessible than the thermal baths (rua da Prata), this site provides an opportunity to discover the different phases of occupation of the Baixa area, from Roman times to that of the Marquis of Pombal.
