ELEVADOR DE SANTA JUSTA (ELEVATOR OF SANTA JUSTA)
Elevator-funicular with wrought iron shell, enjoying a nice perspective on Santa Justa street.
Inaugurated in 1902, with its wrought iron shell, it was considered the king of elevadores (funicular elevators). We have a very nice view of him from Santa Justa Street. Built not by Eiffel but by one of his students, Raul Mesnier de Ponsard, it rises to the level of Chiado. When not in traffic (morning or evening), the summit offers a unique view of the city and the Tagus. If you just want the view, you can access the summit via the largo do Carmo.
