ESTRELA BASILICA
Imposing basilica of baroque and neoclassic style, sheltering a pretty crib of 500 figurines in terra cotta and cork.
An imposing late 18th century basilica to visit before or after visiting the garden of the same name, dating from the 19th century. In Baroque and Neoclassical style, its facade framed by two twin towers is decorated with statues symbolizing saints and allegorical figures. Its interior has magnificent marbles, look up high to see the immensity of its dome, well lit by openings. Also to be seen is a pretty crib of 500 terracotta and cork figurines, and the inevitable tomb of Queen Dona Maria I.
