CRISTO REI (STATUE AND SANCTUARY OF CHRIST THE KING)
Statue of Christ the King of 28 m on a base of 82 m high offering a guaranteed superb view of Rio de Jainero and Corcovado.
Do the hands stretched out over the city remind you of anything? Of course! Of course! Rio de Janeiro and Corcovado, which inspired Cardinal Cereijera in 1934. The King Christ, his Portuguese reduction, was built at the end of the Second World War in gratitude for the fulfillment of a national vow and the episcopate's promise: Portugal had not been invaded. On a 82 m high base, the statue, inaugurated in 1959, still stands 28 m high. Superb view guaranteed.
