MUSEU DO CHIADO - MNAC
A must-see contemporary art museum. Works by Portuguese artists from the 19th century to the present day.
In the setting of a former convent (Convento de S. Francisco), come and discover a considerable collection focusing on the Romantic, Naturalist and Modern periods: paintings, drawings and sculptures by Portuguese artists from the 19th century to the present day. The museum was created in 1911, when the National Museum of Fine Arts was split into two: the National Museum of Ancient Arts and the Chiado Museum, dedicated to contemporary art. Works by Rodin and Bourdelle are on permanent display. The Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea (MNAC) also regularly presents temporary exhibitions and musical activities. As you begin your visit on the metal footbridge, don't miss Jazz and Bar de Marinheiro, two splendid and remarkable works by futurist José de Almada Negreiros (1893-1970), an inspired all-rounder and great friend of Fernando Pessoa. He was one of the great figures of the Portuguese avant-garde. Fans of the artist, painter and poet will not want to miss the illustrative panels inside the Rocha do Conde de Óbidos ferry terminal, on the doca de Alcântara. Renovated in the early 1990s by French architect Jean-François Wilmotte, since June 2016 this museum has extended into a second building linked to the first by a corridor. It is now accessible via 2 entrances: rua Serpa Pinto and rua Capelo. Good to know, it also has a cafeteria with a very pleasant inner courtyard where you can have brunch at weekends.

Pour le prix dérisoire, j'ai vu une très belle expositions d œuvre de Sousa lopes. Et d'autres œuvres d artistes plus comptemporains. À voir si vous avez un peu de temps.
