MUDE-MUSEU DO DESIGN E DA MODA (DESIGN AND FASHION MUSEUM)
Museum of design and fashion with a huge counter, gathering nearly 2,500 pieces made by a multitude of authors.
Partially exhibited at the Centro Cultural de Belém from 1999 to 2006, it brings together nearly 2 500 pieces (some of the private collection of Francisco Capelo, a Portuguese businessman) made by a multitude of authors. Furniture, clothing, utility objects are presented in chronological order from 1937 to the present day four themes: Decorative arts, modernism, pop and cool! At the bank's former premises, Banco Nacional Ultramarino, in a rough décoffrage environment with a huge counter, we rediscover conceptual and functional objects of the pre- and post-war society first like the great Marshmallow Sofa of George Nelson; then we go to the 1960 s, then, pop years, more revolutionary with plastic, then the anti-design movement, the kitsch. From the 1970 s: recycling begins; 1980: pluralism of styles; 1990: the purists and then 2000… and all that we already know or almost.
