TAPADA NACIONAL DE MAFRA
Huge wooded park suggesting guided walks and hikes to discover wild boars, deer and fallow deer.
Behind the palace is an enormous wooded park of 819 hectares, completely surrounded by a 21 km-long wall. The entrance is about 6 km north of the town of Mafra, at the Portão do Codeçal (on the Gradil road). This former hunting reserve of the Royal Household is home to wild boar, deer and fallow deer. There are guided walks, photographic and orienteering tours, horseback riding and mountain biking... The website is regularly updated with seasonal activities.
