Behind the palace, this enormous nature reserve extends over 800 hectares of hills and valleys. The entrance is about 6 km north of the town of Mafra, at Portão do Codeçal (on the Gradil road). This former royal hunting reserve is home to wild boar, deer and fallow deer. Guided hikes, photographic and orienteering tours, horseback riding, mountain biking...
