CAFÉ SAUDADE
It's an institution in Sintra! Enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate in a historic setting that was once a queijadas factory.
Once a queijadas factory (the famous queijadas da Mathilde factory founded by Mathilde Soares Ribeiro) from 1888 to 1974, this house was later restored to become a café. It has several small rooms and you can even see some of the machines used back then. Among the specialties is the famous hot chocolate, which they boast about as soon as you enter. The food is top quality, especially the tostas, made in large slices of farmhouse bread. This place is an institution in the town of Sintra, almost a must.
