For almost a month, concerts and theatre/dance performances take place in Sintra's most beautiful historic sites.
This festival is dedicated to classical music, inviting orchestras and artists from all over the world (although many concerts are performed by Portuguese orchestras). A theme is chosen each year. Originally held in May, it now takes place in September. For a month, concerts and shows take place in the city's superb palaces and churches. It's hard not to fall under the spell of the music when you hear it in the National Palace... Some concerts are dedicated to younger audiences.
