CASTELO DOS MOUROS
Castle with an infinite panorama in Sintra, offering a thousand delightful walks in a pedestrian route.
It's hard to think of another example in Europe of a medieval fortress built almost on a mountainside, with such a panoramic view. Inside the ramparts, nature has invaded the ruins, which nonetheless offer pleasant walks. Beyond the ramparts, the Palacio da Pena looms large.
Note that on leaving the ruins, you can walk through the Quinta da Amizade (recently acquired by the Parques de Sintra), including the Vila Sassetti (a late 19th-century Lombard-style belvedere castle) and up to the Palace.
