SÉ DE SANTARÉM
Cathedral with a beautiful baroque façade, with volutes and pinnacles, part of the Diocesan Museum of Santarém.
This church of the former Jesuit monastery (Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição) was proclaimed a cathedral in 1975. Built in the 17th century, it features a beautiful Baroque façade. Instead of bell towers, it features two large volutes and pinnacles. Along with the rest of the monastery complex, the building forms part of the Santarém Diocesan Museum, which can be visited separately. In addition to its architectural heritage, the museum also features paintings, sculptures and other religious artefacts belonging to the 111 parishes of the diocese.
