TORRE DAS CABAÇAS (CLOCK TOWER)
Mannerist clock tower with a bronze bell from 1604. A museum with a collection of watches is located upstairs.
The Clock Tower was built under the reign of Manuel I in the 15th and 16th centuries. 27 m high and in Mannerist style, it is part of the remains of the defensive structure of the Porta do Alporão de Santarém. At the top, an imposing bronze bell dating from 1604 strikes the mechanical clock. A small museum with a watch collection is located at the top of the tower and, on the same level, you will have a nice view of the city.
