MONASTERY CHURCH OF SANTA CRUZ
Monastery founded in 1131 with a Renaissance porch, housing the tombs of King Afonso Henriques and his heir Sancho I.
This monastery, founded in 1131 by the canons of Saint Augustine, has an incredible 18th century Renaissance porch, a real flamboyant debauchery, which adds to the original portal (and masks it). To see: the tombs of the kings Afonso Henriques (1st king of Portugal) and of his heir Sancho I, the impressive baroque organ, the Manueline cloister, the 17th century Mannerist sacristy with paintings by the famous Grão Vasco and Cristovao de Figueiredo.
