OLD CATHEDRAL
Ancient and beautiful cathedral of Romanesque style with sculptures, altarpiece, Spanish-Arabic tiles and cloister half Romanesque, half Gothic.
It is the oldest and one of the most beautiful Romanesque cathedrals in Portugal. A single portal pierces the facade decorated with a massive lace of crenellations. You will notice the sculptures of the 12th, 14th and 16th centuries, the altarpiece of the choir carved in flamboyant Gothic style of the 16th century and very rare Spanish-Arab azulejos of the 15th century. On the right, the oldest cloister in the country (13th century), half Romanesque and half Gothic, offers another viewpoint on the side of the cathedral. The oculus (eye of the ox windows) above the arches are all different.

L'autel central est de toute beauté : dentelle dorée d'esprit gothique flamboyant.
