AVEIRO MUSEUM
Museum of Sacred Art in a former convent housing the tomb of Santa Joana, daughter of King Alfonso V, paintings and sculptures.
Housed in a former 15th century convent, the Museum of Sacred Art was expanded at the end of 2009. Its centerpiece is the tomb of Santa Joana (daughter of King Alfonso V) who retired to the convent against the will of the sovereign: she became the city's patron saint. The tomb is made of marble and is supported by four serene kneeling angels. The museum offers a collection of 15th and 16th century paintings, religious sculptures, gilded altarpieces, jewelry and other gold and silver work. Other works to discover...
