FOZ CÔA ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK
Archaeological park with rock engravings from the Upper Paleolithic, possibility of a guided tour by kayak, at night.
A reception centre has been set up for a visit to the archaeological park of Foz Côa. This site is exceptional for the number of rock engravings it contains, dating from the Upper Paleolithic period (22,000 to 10,000 BC). They were discovered in 1989 when a dam was built. The sites of Foz Côa and Pinhel (60 km from Guarda) have since been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1998. Possibility of guided tours by kayak or night.
