A small museum that tells the story of the Jews in Portugal and the history of the Marrano community of Belmonte.
This small museum traces the history of the presence of Jews in Portugal with a special focus on the period of the Inquisition. It also traces the history of the Marrano Jewish community of Belmonte. A tribute is paid in particular to Captain Artur Barros Bastos who worked hard to preserve the memory of the Marrano Jewish community, who was dismissed from the army for "bad conduct". In reality, he was a victim of anti-Semitism and his research was a nuisance.
