HÔTEL VILLA LARA * * * * *
Hotel at the foot of the Bayeux Tapestry with a breathtaking view of Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Just a 1-minute walk from the Bayeux Tapestry, this hotel aims for the top end of the market. "Here, all is order and beauty, luxury, calm and pleasure. Did Rima and François Hébert think of Baudelaire’s verses when they imagined their Villa Lara? It’s a mystery, but from the bath linens (bathrobes, slippers, towels, etc.) to the bedspreads and furniture, designed entirely by Moissonnier, the famous cabinetmaker (quality and luxury made in France), everything has been conceived as an ode to comfort and refinement. The lobby, a sumptuous composition of marble and gilding, sets the tone. The cosy lounge bar and library seem to have emerged from another era. Revisiting old styles with bold modernity, each room reveals a unique personality, even if they all share king-size beds and a breathtaking view of Notre-Dame Cathedral. One blazes with cheeky reds, another soft pinks, yet another marries blues and yellows. But our favourite is the black-and-white suite, pure Hollywood glamour. Other favourites include the orange-tinted dining room, where the chef prepares the breakfast eggs live, and the fitness room equipped with state-of-the-art machines.
