LE MARCEL PROUST
Restaurant with a terrace and panoramic view located in Cabourg.
When panoramic rhymes with gastronomic, Le Marcel Proust seems the perfect place to admire the races over good food. But we can't hide the fact that it's expensive. Very expensive, even if the caterer has an excellent reputation. Even though the meat is tender and melt-in-the-mouth, the vegetables always in season, the fish very well cooked - sometimes with different cooking methods, sauces or varieties - the foie gras, star of the house, is of rather uneven quality from one meal to the next. The cheeses - camembert, pont-l'évêque and livarot - always matured at the right temperature, on the other hand, are a delight. Desserts also depend on the number of visitors. Often fine and excellent, they can run out and their "replacements" disappoint. As for service, it's more than perfect. As waiters and waitresses have to bend to the wishes of demanding guests, we give them a tip of the hat. Our verdict? There are good days and bad days here. Ask for a table overlooking the track if you like racing for the spectacle, or if you're inviting your neophyte friends. Otherwise, downstairs, "La Terrasse" is also very good, with a service of equivalent quality, at more reasonable prices. The panorama isn't the same, but you can't have everything.
