MARCEL PROUST STATUE
This statue, placed in the Casino Gardens, is the work of Brazilian musician and sculptor Edgar Duvivier.
The life-size statue of Marcel Proust, placed in the Casino gardens in front of the Grand Hotel, is the subject of thousands of photos and selfies. The work of Brazilian musician and sculptor Edgar Duvivier, it was inaugurated in 2017 and marks the undeniable intimacy that linked Proust and Cabourg (Marcel Proust immortalised Cabourg under the name of Balbec in the 3,000 pages of A la recherche du temps perdu).
In this spirit, and to give the writer his due, a museum, the Villa du Temps Retrouvé, opened its doors in 2021.
