TIME KEEPING
Timekeeping is the focal point for high-watch fans, represented (among others) by names such as Audemars Piguet, Omega, Vulcain, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Rolex or Atmos. Stepping through Rudolphe Delabarre’s door means entering the world of demand and excellence of timepieces. It is also understandable why the term ’luxury watch’ is inappropriate or, at best, reserved for certain brands compared to the logos of ready-to-wear, quartz-driven watches. It’s true, the watches are expensive, both the new ones and the collections (the latter representing 70% of the timekeeping activity). They are expensive because they meet extreme quality criteria in terms of materials and finishes: steel casings resistant to skin abrasion thanks to the chrome alloy, mechanics and mechanisms made of metal and ruby ensuring perfect fluidity of the movement (usually automatic), perfect sealing (glass, case back and winding crown), resistance to very high pressure (Rolex Sea-Dweller) or to the absence of pressure (Omega Speedmaster) to name just a few points. What these watches can do in unusual conditions, they will perform even better under normal conditions of use. To understand the prices of some, simply place them side by side with a fast-fashion garment and haute couture, and compare. Just as there are cheap watches that last a short time, there are high-watch watches that last a lifetime. In Caen… it’s Time Keep that happens. Timekeeping also includes a repair shop for all brands and a point of sale for NATO textile bracelets.
