Walking tour in the city of Caen
A 3 km walk in the city of Caen to discover the castle, the Ladies’ Abbey and the Men’s Abbey.
If man has established himself on Caen territory for 3,000 years, the city owes its development to William the Conqueror, who between 1050 and 1060 impelled a wave of prestigious constructions. During your walk, do not miss the castle: it was his residential palace and today remains one of the largest fortified halls in Europe. The Abbey of Men, which houses the tomb of the character, is also part of the journey, as is the Abbey of the Ladies, built under the impetus of Queen Matilda.
