Produced since 1647 at the Domaine de la Cour Signole in Castillon-en-Auge, a small village of some 150 inhabitants near Mézidon-Canon, the premium cider Zathinoe is among the ciders that can be said of high-end. Since 2001, the year of a new planting, the 320 high-stalk trees have grown and delivered a cider of beautiful quality, recognised by oenologists: " At the beginning of full flesh flesh ripe, at the end of the mouth a small point of bitterness and one leaves on a ripe apple malty. Zathinoe has a striking balance between olfactory and taste with a cinnamon point. " To produce these clogged ciders IGP Normandie and AOC Country of Auge, ten varieties of apple trees, from a traditional and organic orchard leading to a natural Eurasian-cherty land, were selected. The size of the trees (staggered) and the harvest are made exclusively by hand so as not to injure fruits that are treated neither on the ground nor in the air. This pure, natural fruity cider was awarded many times to the Paris General Agricultural Competition. This cider was gold medal in 2011, bronze medal in 2013, silver medal in 2014 and again in February 2015. It is often a good place on fine grocery shelves. Damage: the augeronne property does not visit unannounced. It is recommended to book for a tasting.
