Domaine Cœur de Lion offers guided tours with pommeau and calvados tasting for individuals and families
In the heart of the Pays d'Auge, the Cœur de Lion estate is located in an old Norman farmhouse with typical 17th century Auge architecture. Benefiting from the Pays d'Auge appellation, Christian Drouin's calvados is made only from the fruits of this region. It should be noted that only pure juice is extracted: the pulp is pressed only once and the yield does not exceed 65%. They practice double distillation in an iron still and their calvados is certified by the I.N.A.O. after an expertise. Finally, thanks to a varied choice of ageing casks (including old port and sherry casks), their blends of liqueurs less than 20 years old are unique and very original. The visit includes the press, the distillery, the ageing cellars and ends with a tasting in the shop. For groups, there are thematic visits. For individuals and families, guided tours with pommeau and calvados tasting and a free pommeau miniature to each adult visitor. For schoolchildren, cider tasting and an educational leaflet. And now, you can take a walk under the apple trees to discover the twenty-two varieties of cider apples on the estate, as well as the old wash house and the bread oven, both of which have been renovated. Note that the bread oven is used in summer to produce cider bread.
