CASTLE FRANÇOIS D'Ô
Old castle of the 9th century near the marina of Courseulles, converted into a beautiful residence at the end of the 16th century by François d’Ô
The superb François d’Ô Castle, classified as a historical monument since 1910, is centrally located in the city centre, close to the Courseulles marina and is well worth a visit. Formerly a powerful 9th-century fortified castle, it was transformed into a pleasant residence at the end of the 16th century by François d’Ô (1535-1594), a native of the Orne region, notably Minister of Finance under King Henri III and Governor of Caen Castle. It was again modified at the end of the 17th century by Anne Morant, daughter of Thomas II Morant.
