The Franciscan nuns’ place of worship in Deauville has become an open-plan living space open to strolling and culture.
Deauville set itself quite a challenge: to revive the Franciscaines, a 19th-century convent, as a major cultural centre. The challenge was to combine the audacity of the contemporary with the history of the building. Based around themes characteristic of the city, such as cinema, horses and photography, this unusual spot features an André Hambourg museum, an auditorium, a media library and a coworking space. This place of worship has become an open-plan living space, open to wandering, discovery and culture.
