THE BARONIA
Visit an estate with several historic homes and monuments in the heart of Dover, near the church of Saint Rémi.
Located in the heart of Dover, near the church of Saint Rémi, the Barony includes, in an enclosed space of about four hectares, a large dwelling, a small dwelling, the remains of a chapel from the 12th and 13th centuries, a 15th-century gatehouse, all classified as historic monuments since 1995, and more recent outbuildings (stable and farmhouse). The restoration of the large dwelling, begun in 2009, was completed in 2012, restoring La Baronnie to its former character when it hosted the country residence of the Bishops of Bayeux. The magnificent premises have become a venue for meetings, conferences and exhibitions that are highly prized by the inhabitants, and are also rented for seminars or family gatherings. The renovation of the small dwelling was completed at the end of 2018, in order to complete the cultural and tourist offer. The Domaine de la Baronnie has also become a place for walks, rest and games where it is good to meet again. It is also there that lies in a depression called La cuve, the source of the Douvette, a small river which, after crossing Dover, flows into the sea at Luc-sur-Mer.
