A little history
Founded in 1938 by Léonide Lussier and established on the famous avenue of the same name for 81 years, La Binerie Mont-Royal showcases traditional Quebec cuisine in its purest expression. Pork roast, stew, bacon, cretons, poutine, shepherd's pie... and no less than 32 tons of baked beans are prepared there every year.
A place full of history!
The Binerie Mont-Royal was the setting for the novel and film Le Matou, by Yves Beauchemin.
Former Montreal mayor Camilien Houde and field hockey star Maurice Richard used to hang out there
On November 17, 2005, Jocelyne Gingras and Philippe Brunet became the happy purchasers of the Binerie Mont-Royal. They had been looking for a restaurant that offered a special cuisine and experience for several months. Mrs Gingras at the stove and Mr Brunet with their son Jean-Philippe at the service!

La nourriture y est bonne et servie en quantité raisonnable.
My go-to order is #9 (the black sausage combo). Their black sausage is great! I also get a piece of their tourtière as a side too. Their tourtière (Québécois meat pie) is amazing: well-seasoned, no salty aftertaste.
My only complaint is that the beans cooked in lard can sometimes be too salty. But I love those beans, they are not the sweet baked beans people usually think of.
Good thing is that they open until 9pm in the weekend, so I can visit them when I am hungover.
My wife loves it so much that we had our wedding anniversary dinner there!
