Hermanville-sur-Mer British Cemetery with the graves of 1,005 soldiers, numerous monuments, and commemorative plaques

Fallen on 6 June 1944 during the Landing, 1,005 soldiers, including 986 British, 13 Canadians, 3 Australians and 3 French, lie in Hermanville Cemetery. Numerous monuments and plaques of remembrance also mark out the commune: "The Sailor", the monument of the Royal Artillery, the plaques in memory of the 3rd British Infantry Division... Also, on the departmental road towards Lion-sur-Mer, a British Centaur tank, intended to support the Royal Marine Commando.
