Chinese pavilion featuring harmonious columns with an interior decorated with trinkets and a fresco of Chinese life.
During his stays at Sanssouci, Frederick II appreciated the intimacy of this Chinese pavilion. It must be said that in the 18th century, the Far East and its refinement fed the fantasies of the European aristocracy, which led to a craze for what has been called "chinoiseries". This pavilion is a rather successful example of this: harmonious columns, interior decorated with porcelain trinkets and a fresco depicting a scene of Chinese life painted in trompe l'oeil.

Une petite merveille
Un petit enchantement d'une quinzaine de minutes dans le splendide parc de sanssoucis. Et de l'humour en prime pour qui sait observer... A voir au détour d'une balade dans le parc...

Curiosity in the garden of the Palace of Sanssouci, the Chinese pavilion is astonishing first but fits well into the surrounding landscape. It can be visited.
