NEUE KAMMERN
Former orangery transformed into a sumptuous residence of seven private suites adorned with stone and gold in rococo style.
Frederick the Great had this former orangery next to his castle of Sanssouci transformed into a sumptuous residence for his distinguished guests. The seven private suites (Kavalierszimmer) are adorned in stone and gold and are a magnificent illustration of the Rococo style. In the Ovid Room (named after the Roman poet), the gold reliefs on the walls show scenes from the Metamorphoses. The Jaspissaal, as its name suggests, decorated with red jasper, is the largest of the Neue Kammern and used to host concerts and festivals.
