NEW GARDEN
Typical Potsdam landscape complex featuring a summer residence of Frederick William II and other monuments.
Just west of Alexandrovka, on the banks of the Heiliger See, lies one of Potsdam's typical landscape complexes: the Neuer Garten. After the death of Frederick the Great, his successor Frederick William II had an impressive summer residence built. The main monuments in the garden are the charming Marmorpalais overlooking the Heiliger See and the Schloss Cecilienhof, the last imperial addition to the Potsdam complex (1913-1917). One wing of the building has been converted into a luxury hotel, restaurant and tea house.
