BABELSBERG FILMPARK
Futuroscope-style cinema park featuring projections, dynamic 3D cinemas, games in film sets...
You can walk freely around the film park, but with restrictions. For a more in-depth visit, make an appointment with the studios for a guided tour. For entertainment lovers, the associated theme park is a kind of small Futuroscope, with projections, dynamic 3D cinemas, games in film sets, German audiovisual legends and more. These visits are not free. If you really want to learn about the history of Babelsberg, you'd better visit the Film Museum.
If you have the time, a stroll through Babelsberg, Potsdam's largest district, is very pleasant. The Babelsberg park, north of the S-Bahn station (at the end of k. Liebknecht-Strasse), on the Tiefer See, is charming. It contains a pretty castle and outbuildings, and the university campus is very lively throughout the year. To the west of the film park, just south of the Potsdam Hauptbahnhof station (on the right as you go down A. Einstein-Strasse), stands the former East German Parliament, the Brauhausberg, then known as the Kremlin. There's also the Telegraphenberg, a small mountain with an astronomical observatory bearing Einstein's name, located next to a charming little lake, the Griebnitzsee.Did you know?
