The course is a change of scenery in the middle of thousands of palm trees in the pink city, and you run the marathon in the footsteps of Philippides.
Every year since 1987, intrepid runners take to the streets of Marrakech under balmy January skies for an eagerly-awaited marathon followed by throngs of spectators. More than 10,000 people from all over the world take part. The 42.195 kilometer regulation marathon takes place on a course between the Palmeraie, the city center, the palm tree lanes and along the ramparts of the medina. A highly prestigious event for Morocco, sponsored by His Majesty, it brings a lively sporting atmosphere to the Red City.
