TAMAN UJUNG
A remarkable palace to visit in Amlapura, part of the 3 water palaces built by the king of Karangasem.
5 km southeast of Amlapura, it is one of the 3 water palaces built by the king of Karangasem. Originally built in a neo-Baroque style by King Anak Agung Anglurah in 1920, the pools had disappeared, buried little by little by the rice fields.
Then the palace was permanently damaged in the last earthquake. Renovations have since been carried out; the lakes and pavilions have been recreated. The bas-reliefs on the pavilions do not seem to have been carved by Balinese, but rather by artists from Lombok.
