Botanical garden with orchid collection, rose garden, herbarium, Indonesian medicinal plant garden, etc.
Almost 130 hectares overlooking the lake, the park is surrounded by thick forests of astonishing species. One of 4 botanical gardens in Indonesia, it is home to 16,000 different plants and trees, including 1,500 species representative of Bali. You can drive in and wander through the jungle, a few clearings and exotic gardens. The estate includes a collection of orchids (500 species), a fern park, a rose garden, a herbarium, a cactus greenhouse, a meadow planted with various species of bamboo, a garden of Indonesian medicinal plants... In short, it's a carefree way to spend half a day. On Sundays, many Balinese and Javanese come here for a picnic. The plants are well labeled and there's also a library of botanical works next to the research center. As in any self-respecting place, there are three temples scattered around the park. Finally, you can visit a traditional Balinese family home, built to the north-west of the estate. The lucky ones will sleep in this quiet guesthouse, reserved primarily for visiting researchers, but also open to visitors. Call the day before for reservations and information. The garden publishes a small guide describing 10 guided walks. Numerous bird species can be observed in the park.
A tree adventure course has been built in the south-western part of the botanical gardens.
