GEDONG KIRTYA MUSEUM
The unique lontar library in Singaraja is a must for lovers of black magic and ancestral grimoires.
This is an extraordinary place for lovers of black magic and ancestral grimoires. The library was founded by L. J. J. Caron, a Dutchman, in 1928. It's the only lontar library in the world and well worth a visit. Lontars are borasse palm leaves on which religious, historical, mythological, technical and medical texts are engraved. There are over 3,000 of them. Many lontars deal with black magic. The library also contains texts engraved on copper plates(prasasti), some of which date back to the 10th century.
