THE FRENCH SPIRITISM - CHÂTEAU DU BREUIL
Classified as a historic monument, the Château du Breuil, a prestigious Calvados distillery, is now called the Spirituerie Française.
One of the most prestigious distilleries in Calvados, founded in 1954, its 16th and 17th century château is one of the jewels in the crown of the Pays d'Auge. The park, proud of its century-old trees, is an ideal place to stroll, where you can even find out how many apples it weighs! For the curious, there are guided tours to discover the precious Pays d'Auge AOC Calvados. We loved the film projected onto the barrels in the 17th-century ageing cellar. Since 2020, a new wind has been blowing through the centuries-old château. In the midst of its confinement, Château du Breuil was bought by Frédéric Dussart. The company aims to remain a major player in calvados, the nectar that forged its reputation, but the range of spirits has been expanded, notably with a bold-style pure Norman malt whisky, brewed in Normandy, distilled, aged and bottled at Le Breuil-en-Auge. The distillery also produces rum, refined with the utmost care by its cellar master. "Combining tradition and innovation" is the motto of the new owner of château du Breuil, now called Spiriterie Française. A daring gamble, but a wise one in view of the awards won, such as the 2022 Gold Medal at the World Whiskies Awards for Whisky Le Breuil - Origine! A wonderful story, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2024. And for the occasion, suites will be opened within the château, allowing history buffs to sleep in this emblematic Normandy estate.

Explications très succinctes, sur l’histoire du domaine autant que sur la fabrication du Calvados.
