University renowned for its quality teaching, home to Sungjeongjeon Hall and the main hall of Gyeonghuigung Palace.
Fans of K-drama will certainly recognize this building: Dongguk Buddhist University. It's famous for the quality of its teaching in Korea, but above all for the presence, high up on the campus, of Sungjeongjeon Hall, the main hall of the Gyeonghuigung Palace moved here by the Japanese in 1926. Built in 1616, it miraculously escaped the fire of 1829. It was restored in 1976. Although not essential, a short visit to the campus is well worthwhile, especially as the grounds and architecture are very pleasant.
