TEMPLE STAY GOLGULSA
One of South Korea's only cave temples, founded in the century and housing the Buddhist ruins of Mount Hamwol.
The Golgulsa Temple (Buddha Stone Temple) houses the Buddhist ruins of Mt. Hamwol and is one of the only cave temples in South Korea. The temple was built in the 6th century by Kwang Yoo and his Buddhist companions from India. Recently, a former master, Seol Jeok Woon from the nearby temple (Kirimsa) has rehabilitated the access to this temple (and so much the better). He has also worked to renovate the temple and develop all its activities. This temple is now known as the center of sunmudo, which is a Zen martial art of Korean origin. It is a dynamic form of yoga, based on the control of breath, movement and thought. For a few years now, the Golgulsa temple has been attracting a very cosmopolitan public, allowing sunmudo to gradually become known throughout the world. One can stay there and take part in all the activities... One is even invited to it not to say obliged. Indeed once inside the temple, one must follow the rules, namely: get up at 4 am, the day begins with prayers, meditation sessions ... Then follows a frugal but typical breakfast (which is composed like all the others: rice, kimchi, vegetables ...) then comes the sunmudo training. Not forgetting that it is obviously forbidden to smoke but you can keep your mobile phone! A really interesting, enriching and, what's more, accessible experience for novices.
