DEN BLÅ PLANET-AQUARIUM
Dive into the marine world of the Blue Planet. A fun and educational discovery for the whole family.
The first aquarium was inaugurated in 1939 in Charlottenlund. Now too small, it was moved here in 2013. This aquarium is the largest in Northern Europe, and certainly the most beautiful! Seen from the outside, the building resembles a gigantic shell on the beach. Seen from above, its spiral shape pays homage to the mother-of-pearl nautiluses of curiosity cabinets. All around, water... Welcome to the Blue Planet! This architectural feat is the work of renowned Danish architects 3XN. Inside, visitors have the impression of being underwater, moving through glass tunnels. A total immersion in semi-darkness among thousands of species swimming around. It's up to you to choose which fish or species to observe!
In Ocean Tank, the largest area, hammerhead sharks, stingrays (with their long, venomous sting) and moray eels swim around, while in the Amazonas area, butterflies and birds can be spotted. Further on, under a waterfall, piranhas and anacondas live. The most daring can dive among the sharks on the first Monday of every month between 4.30 and 6.30 pm! But the stars of the aquarium are undoubtedly the sea otters frolicking in the outdoor pools!
The permanent exhibition "Once upon a time, there was a sea" takes you back in time to prehistoric times and the strange, bizarre, giant creatures of the sea... 550 million years of history await you!
