SANKT NIKOLAJ CHURCH (SANKT NIKOLAJ KIRKE)
Church just off Strøget towards Kongens Nytorv transformed into a comfortable modern art exhibition venue.
A church with an unusual destiny. It is located very close to Strøget towards Kongens Nytorv, on a square that can be reached via an alley opposite the Illum shop or, from Hojbro Plads, via Store Kirkegade.
Its square tower dates back to the 16th century, and the church was burnt down in 1795 and rebuilt between 1915 and 1917. It was not used for religious services for a very long time. It was not used for religious services for a very long time. It was disused and converted into a very comfortable place for modern art exhibitions. Only the presence of an organ or the shape of the windows (no stained glass windows here) reminds us that we are in a church. A small café has even been set up there.
