CHRISTIANSBORG PALATINE CHAPEL
Chapel inspired by the Pantheon in Rome to commemorate the first millennium of Denmark's conversion to Christianity
Inaugurated in 1826, the plans were once again drawn up by neoclassical architect Christian Frederik Hansen, who was greatly inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. The commission was intended to commemorate the first millennium of Denmark's conversion to Christianity. Today, the chapel is used for a number of official ceremonies - such as the mass presided over by the king traditionally inaugurating the parliamentary year - or family occasions (the christening of the princely children).
