CHURCH OF THE NAVY (HOLMENS KIRKE)
This former ship anchor forge, converted into a church, was spared the bombardments thanks to its isolated location.
Facing the Bourse, this former ship anchor forge was transformed into a church in 1619 and dedicated to the Navy. For the anecdote, its bell tower was raised in order to hide the smoke of the forge's chimneys from the delicate eyes of the residents of the royal castle. In 1640, Christian IV undertook to enlarge the sanctuary and gave it its present appearance. Thanks to its isolated location, it was spared bombings and fires and has not suffered the ravages of time!
