STOCK EXCHANGE (BØRSEN)
A handsome building in the architectural style characteristic of Flemish Mannerism in Copenhagen, distinguished by its highly decorated facade.
The Stock Exchange was built between 1619 and 1640 by the van Steenwinckel brothers in a style characteristic of Flemish Mannerism, at the request of Christian IV. It stood out from the island of Slotsholmen with its astonishing 54-metre-high torso spire, towering into the Copenhagen skyline. From its base, four dragons intertwined their tails. On April 16, 2024, while the building was being renovated, a fire broke out and ravaged the edifice: the spire and façade, engulfed in flames, collapsed.

Architecture incroyable!
