Library designed by Copenhagen architect Johan Herholdt, featuring 2 levels of galleries with wrought-iron columns.
Succeeding a first university library, installed in the attic of the Trinity Church and destroyed by fire in 1728, it was built from 1855 in brick and metal, in order to avoid a new tragedy. The architect Johan Herholdt was inspired by Italian medieval architecture to design it. Inside, two levels of galleries with wrought-iron columns support the shelving, which can be seen at nightfall from Krystal Gade.
